Dr. Rama Srinivasan Velmurugan is an electronics engineer from the 1992 batch of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Trichy. He holds an MBA in Operations Management and a Doctorate in Management from the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun. With over 30 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, Dr. Velmurugan currently serves as Chief General Manager (HR) at GAIL’s Corporate Office, heading Corporate HR functions. He is also a Board Member of GAIL Mangalore Petrochemicals Limited (GMPL), Mangalore. Previously, he led the Human Resource Department at GAIL’s Petrochemical Complex in Uttar Pradesh, managing a workforce of over 1,000 employees and 3,500 contract workers. Dr. Velmurugan has played a pivotal role in developing and implementing HR strategies, leading performance and talent management initiatives, designing employee engagement programs, overseeing compensation and benefits, and driving HR analytics and compliance. He collaborates closely with executive leadership to align HR strategies with business objectives.
