The celebrations began with a welcome address by Chairman of NDIM V M Bansal. He shared that the future of NDIM lies in our students and that is why we have been reinvesting the profits back into NDIM infrastructure for past two decades. He highlighted the fact that NDIM is offering 11 skill based programs to students without charging any extra fee.

NDIM students and team felt greatly honored by the presence (at NDIM campus) of Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Shri S.K. Sharma, IAS on the 24th Founder’s Day of NDIM. Mr Sharma began his speech by paying homage to the Founder JR Bansal. He laid stress on India’s demographic profile and the large young population as is its silver line. CAG emphasised that we need to strive for excellence in every profession as we cannot develop as a country without quality young professionals. He shared that how well we do a task is more important than the status attached to the profession and quoted John W. Gardner’s famous quote in this context.

“The society which scorns excellence in plumbing as a humble activity and tolerates shoddiness in philosophy because it is an exalted activity will have neither good plumbing nor good philosophy: neither its pipes nor its theories will hold water”.

Mr Sharma also shared a poem with a powerful message from the famous poet RW Emerson, ‘The Mountain & The Squirrel’. He especially emphasised that all talents are critical in their own way and focused on the last line of the poem where the squirrel tells the mountain

“Talents differ; all is well and wisely put. If I cannot carry forest on my back, neither can you crack a nut”

The other dignitaries who joined the chief guest and NDIM chairman on the dais included Justice BP Singh (Justice, Supreme Court), Sh Kamal Singh (Director General, NHRD), Maj General DN Khurana, Dr Mahesh Gupta (CMD, Kent RO) and Dr Manpreet S Manna (Director, AICTE) who also shared their wise words with the audience.

After the address by the Chief guest, Business Excellence awards were given to eminent personalities from the corporate world including Satya D Sinha (CEO, Mancer Consulting Services), Deepak Kapoor (CEO, PwC), Prof Furqan Qamar (Secretary General, AIU), & Padmashree Dr Pritam Singh. Some of the awardees were represented by their colleagues including Rajiv Memani (Country Head, E & Y), Rana Kapoor (CEO, Yes Bank), Anuradha Joshi (Principal, Sardar Patel Vidyalaya), and Shikha Sharma (CEO, Axis bank).

Mr Satya Sinha made the audience smile by sharing how people in Bihar learn ABCDEFGH followed by IAS. Ms Preeti Sinha, Sr President, Yes Bank who received the award on behalf of Mr Rana Kapoor, Founder of Yes Bank, that we are witnessing rise of DICE economy – Design, Innovation & Creativity-led Entrepreneurship. The celebrations came to an end with a joyful singing of the national anthem.
