GOI chooses NDIM to host Smart India Hackathon’17
“Smart India Hackathon” has been planned by the Govt of India as the World’s Biggest ever open innovation model, and the Hon’ble Prime Minister is taking very keen interest in its success as the event is aimed at generating 25,000 startups in addition to finding digital solutions to the problems of 29 union ministries & government departments to add to their efficiency and transparency in a big way.
10,000 engineering students selected out of 42,000 students across the country by the Union HRD ministry during the last 1 year would be simultaneously working at 26 Nodal Centers in India in highly invigorating environment, non-stop for 36 hours from 8 am on 1st April to 8 pm on 2nd April 2017, for finding smart solutions to the problems of 29 union ministries and government departments including the Ministries of Railways, Science & Technology, Commerce, Tourism, Civil Aviation, Defence, External Affairs, Niti Ayog and the PMO in addition to other central ministries & ISRO under the vision of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, thus creating an unparalleled world record of non- stop innovation effort for 3,60,000 hours. The event has been planned by the Government of India at a massive scale with the vision that it enters the ‘Guinness Book of World Records’ and ‘Limca Book of Records’ as the world’s biggest Hackathon till date with 360,000 hours of continuous innovation effort by 10,000 students for 36 hours. Inauguration ceremony is being simultaneously held across 26 Nodal Centers in the country at 7:30 am on 1st April.
Known for its 100% finest placements, full time 74 faculty drawn from 240 Industrial houses & 24 International Universities, highest industry interface and best governance; New Delhi Institute of Management is privileged to be chosen as the only Nodal Center in Delhi by the Government of India for its biggest innovation, startup & digital revolution of the world which apart from 29 union ministries & departments is supported by the NASSCOM and other funding agencies like AICTE, DST, DBT and ICMR for converting the ideas emerging out of this Hackathon into startups according to the Union HRD Minister. The event is also supported by the Persistent, National Informatics Centre, i4C, Deloitte, KPIT, Acm India, Suma Soft, IBM and is likely to be remembered for a long time.
We have been chosen to be the Nodal Center for 2 Central Ministries, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers (Dept. of Chemicals & Petrochemicals) and the Ministry of External Affairs and are the only Institute in Delhi and the only MBA school in this part of the country chosen by the Govt of India to host this 36 hour non-stop innovation ‘Grand Finale’, in addition to one MBA school in Mumbai and 24 engineering institutes in other parts of the country.
